Two charged in West Bay firearm incident

A 21-year-old West Bay man and a 23-year-old George Town woman were charged following an incident in West Bay.

Police said they responded to a report of an altercation at a residence off Bonneville Drive on 15 June between three men, all known to each other, during which a firearm was reported to have been brandished.

Two of the men fled but reported hearing a single gunshot being fired, police said.

Both men received minor injuries, but did not receive gunshot wounds.

The man with the firearm then left the location in a vehicle with another person, police also said.

Police said they conducted a search of the residence where the man and woman were found, and recovered ganja and drug paraphernalia.

No firearm was recovered.

The 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman appeared in court on 23 June. They were granted bail, pending a further appearance on 13 July.

Both were formally charged with assault ABH, possession of ganja and consumption of ganja.

The man has also been charged with possession of a utensil used in the consumption of ganja.
