The RCIPS is advising the public of that there will be road closures in place Friday, 30 June, to facilitate the lying in state for the late Captain Eldon Kirkconnell.
Fort Street will be closed between Seafarers Way and Edward Street, and at Albert Panton Street, from 9am to 2:30pm.
Police are urging motorists to avoid the area during these times if possible, and exercise caution if travelling in the area otherwise.
Members of the public are invited to pay their respects at the House of Parliament where Captain Kirkconnell’s coffin will be in place from 10am until 2pm.
An official funeral service for the late statesman will be held at 3pm, Saturday, at the Church of God Chapel on Walkers Road, George Town.
Captain Kirkconnell passed away on 8 June at the age of 96.
