Ten men have been sent home to Cuba after arriving in the Cayman Islands without the correct legal documents.
The Customs and Border Control Service flew the men on a chartered Cayman Airways SAAB aircraft from Grand Cayman on Tuesday, 26 Sept.
They left the island at about 10:10am and arrived in Cuba at about 12:30pm, according to a government press release.
CBC Director Charles Clifford thanked his officers for “planning and executing another successful repatriation operation to Cuba”.
“They were ably assisted by officers from His Majesty’s Cayman Islands Prison Service and the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and we sincerely thank them for their collaboration.”
Additional repatriation flights will be arranged as processing continues, the release added.

Previously, four men, also seeking asylum, arrived at the same beach in a small wooden rowing boat on 10 Sept.
Throughout August, 20 people further were detained after arriving in Cayman Brac without appropriate documentation, according to government press releases.
