Two Canadians were arrested for the alleged importation of a total of almost 80 pounds of ganja in separate incidents at Owen Roberts International Airport.
A woman said to have 50 lbs of the drug was arrested on Thursday, 12 Dec. and was remanded in custody after she appeared in court on Monday, 16 Dec., according to a press release issued by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
A man on a flight from Toronto was detained after Customs officials spotted suspicious packages when his luggage was X-rayed, the release said.
A total of 34 vacuum-sealed bags containing 29.15 lbs of marijuana were found when the luggage was searched.
The incident happened on Thursday, 28 Nov.
The man pleaded guilty in Summary Court on Monday, 9 Dec. to importation and possession with intent to supply the drug and was remanded in custody.
