Charges to be mentioned again on 1 October
Cayman Islands Cabinet Minister Rolston Malachi Anglin appeared in Traffic Court on Monday morning charged with careless driving and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Details of the charges allege that the minister with responsibility for education, training and employment drove without due care and attention on 23 May, 2012, in the vicinity of The Avalon Condos on West Bay Road in Grand Cayman. It is further alleged that on the same occasion the proportion of alcohol in his breath exceeded the legal limit of .100, to wit, .110.
The minister was represented by attorney Steve McField, who asked for another mention date because he had received the bundle of papers only on Friday. He told Chief Magistrate Nova Hall that he needed to peruse the papers “in order to decide where we are going to go”.
The magistrate set the matter for Monday, 1 October, and the defendant’s bail was extended until then.
