Cayman helps visitors stay young

The Cayman Islands has been hailed as a place to help people stay young, and as a one of a kind scuba diving spot, in the foreign press recently.

One recent article of interest, posted on MSNBC’s travel section on 21 February, lists the Cayman Islands as one of six destinations to help people stay young at heart.

The snippet on Cayman reads, ‘We weren’t exactly surprised when we saw government statistics that ranked the Cayman Islands 13th on a 2006 list of countries’ life expectancies (80.07 years in the Caymans).

‘What’s there to worry about, anyway, in this Caribbean tax haven where more than 259 banks are on the roughly 22-by-eight-mile Grand Cayman – especially if there’s an account in your name?

‘Think about it real hard when you take your nightly stroll, pina colada in hand, on the island’s Seven Mile Beach.’

You can’t compare it to 30 years ago, but it’s as good as it gets for underwater terrain’.

The article points out that the islands listed for diving (including Cayman) are also havens for snorkelling.

Under Gourmet Dining, the article notes that more fine-dining options are to be found in some of the wealthier islands, including Grand Cayman.

The article mentions Grand Cayman’s duty free shopping, locally produced Caymanite jewellery and its clothing boutiques.

Under the heading Beaches, Seven Mile Beach is listed as standing out amongst the greats. ‘Just know that it is lined with hotels,’ the article says.
