Two men from Jamaica have been arrested after they arrived on the south shore of Grand Cayman on a boat on Thursday morning, 18 Jan.
The 28 to 30-foot fibreglass vessel was recovered along the shoreline off Bodden Town Road in Breakers, police told the Compass.
“The two men have been detained and police and partner agencies, including Customs and Border Control, are investigating the matter,” they added.
Police said the men, aged 33 and 40, appeared to be in good health.
A report that the vessel had arrived was made to the police communications centre just after 7am, a press release later added.
Officers from the police, Cayman Islands Coast Guard and Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control attended the scene.
The RCIPS Air Operations Unit carried out an extensive search of the surrounding area but nothing illegal was found.
CBC has since arrested the men on suspicion of illegal landing, and they remained in custody as of Friday, 19 Jan., the press release said.
