With the anticipated passage of hurricane Emily on Sunday morning, the Royal Cayman Islands police are taking proactive measures to prevent crimes against property, during and after the weather.
The task force has been significantly strengthened to patrol for potential burglars and thieves, regular police patrols in the commercial and residential communities will be increased, and a police command centre established at the George Town Police Station are some of the initiatives that have been put in place to prevent and detect crime.
The public is asked to secure their assets and be vigilant before and after the storm. Suspicious persons or suspicious activity should be reported to the George Town Police Station at 949-4222.
If a curfew becomes necessary, residents are reminded to remain at home during the curfew hours and travel only with the expressed written permission of the Commissioner of Police, with the exception of the essential services who can travel from home to work.
