Teachers get new aides

Ten teachers’ aides and assistants are now employed at government schools in the Sister Islands, Legislative Assembly heard.

The statistic was given by Education Minister Alden McLaughlin in an answer to Sister Islands MLA Julianna O’Connor-Connoly.

Mr. McLaughlin explained there were three types of support for teachers in the classroom – teachers’ aides, support assistants and assistant teachers.

Those allotted to the Sister Islands were Cayman Brac High School: one aide, one support and one support (vacant, to be filled in September); West End Primary: one aide, two assistants; Creek Primary: one aide, one assistant;’ Spot Bay Primary: one aide; Little Cayman Education Service: one aide.
