I want to publicly thank the organizers of Walk Against Violence, which took place 25 June: Cayman Islands Crisis Centre, National Drug Council and Purple Dragon Martial Arts.
This well attended event demonstrated the public’s resolve in coming together to support the fight against the rising crime rate in our society.
Policing is most effective when it is performed as a shared undertaking with the public.
Each and every individual must accept their responsibilities in terms of helping to prevent and reduce crime, it is not just their right to live in a safe and secure community.
The community must be part of the solution.
The Police see this event as an expressed commitment and the impetus of an excellent partnership between the police and the public in tackling crime and disorder and bringing offenders to justice.
We will galvanize your support and harvest a force to bring to bear on a small minority of our society who spread fear and distress to the majority of us that want to have a safe community for ourselves and those that visit our shores.
Again, thanks for your support.
Deputy Commissioner of Police
