The National Gallery is offering two camps this summer, Teen Design and Earth Smart.
The camps will be held at the Gallery’s Education Centre in Bay Town Plaza on West Bay Road.
Both camps begin this Monday and run through Friday, 8 August.
Aston Ebanks, who is a member of the Cayman Islands Beautification Committee and has a strong belief in conservation, is instructing an Earth Smart Art Camp for younger children aged seven and up. The camp will run in the mornings from 9am to 11am. The concept of each individual piece will come from recyclable and found items. The children will be taken on a field trip to search for discarded items and asked to bring in items from home that can be used to create an art piece. The cost of the camp is $100 per child.
The Gallery has also included a Teen Design Camp where participants will get to be the designer.
Interior Designer, Lisa Ebanks will show teens how to select colours, furniture and accessories while teaching the basics of interior design. This new and interesting camp is for the children 12 and over and will run in the afternoons from 2pm to 4pm. The cost is $200 per child.
Gallery members receive a 10 percent discount. Refreshments will be served at both camps.
