Three people are in police custody in connection with a shooting that injured three men on Eastern Avenue Friday night.
The shooting victims, aged 32, 30 and 24 were all taken to the Cayman Islands hospital shortly after the gunfire erupted around 8pm Friday near the Corner Restaurant.
Two of the shooting victims have been treated and released from hospital. The third victim is still under doctor’s care.
Royal Cayman Islands Police were treating the incident as an attempted murder.
No charges had been filed against any of the three individuals in police custody as of Saturday.
Hundreds of on-lookers gathered around the scene of crime Friday night. Police cordoned off a small area of Eastern between School Road and Godfrey Nixon Way.
Officers appeared to be inspecting an alley beside the restaurant for clues.
There was no word as to what might have led to Friday’s shooting.
Grand Cayman has seen several high profile shootings in recent weeks.
Friday’s incident is the second triple shooting in the last five weeks in Cayman. On 8 July, three young men were shot in West Bay. One of them, 20-year-old Marcus Ebanks died.
Also, just last weekend shots were fired at the Spotts-area home of Chief Magistrate Margaret Ramsay-Hale. No one was hurt and no arrests have been reported in connection with that shooting.
