A body was found on a West Bay beach just off King Road this afternoon.
Police said it was believed to be that of missing fisherman Sisby Levert Barnett.
Police had been continuing searches for the missing fisherman Friday after he left home more than 24 hours earlier.
Mr. Barnett aka ‘Junior’, of Duxies Lane, West Bay, left his home address at around 7am Thursday to go fishing. He was expected to return home that evening but did not.
Royal Cayman Islands Police said Mr. Barnett was using a 12 to 14 foot green open aluminium boat.
Emergency services were notified of his apparent disappearance at around 8.45pm Thursday by Mr Barnett’s brother.
The Marine Unit commenced a search on the water and land searches were conducted around the shoreline of West Bay. Thursday night, his trailer was found at the North West Point Road launch ramp.
Friday morning, officers found a boat overturned a short distance from the shore in the Barkers area which is believed to be Mr Barnett’s.
A fuel tank and cooler from that boat also washed up on the shoreline.
Although it is not known exactly where Mr Barnett had planned to go fishing, police said he frequents the Barkers and Seven Mile Beach areas. All private and commercial vessels on the water are asked to assist in the search by looking out for Mr Barnett.
