It was a windy and blustery day at the South Sound venue as the Digicel Gaelic League reached its half way point of the 2011 season two Sunday ago and the conditions certainly had a big role to play as the teams struggled to cope with the unpredictable ball.
Table toppers Cabra Gaels were in confident mood as they took on Gabriels in the day’s early match-up and they were seeking to extend their unbeaten run which stretches back to the opening day of the season.
The final scoreline of 16-9 was a harsh reflection of what had been a keenly contested game but the concession of four goals proved too high a mountain for Gabriels to climb and Cabra Gaels continued their winning run.
The Gaelic Club took a break from the league with a fun day to celebrate St Patrick’s Day Festival on Saturday at the rugby club in South Sound.
However it’s back to the serious business this Sunday when the two top teams battle it out in what promises to be a cracking match.
