A woman arrested in connection with a stabbing Tuesday in West Bay is due to head to court next week.

The 33-year-old suspect, whose name has not been released, has been charged with attempted murder.

According to Royal Cayman Islands Police, shortly after 9pm Tuesday, officers received a  report of a fight between a man and a woman on Dixie Lane. During the altercation, police said, the woman stabbed the 57-year-old man in the chest.

The man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital in George Town. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.

This was the second stabbing in West Bay this month.

Following a 1 May attack, a woman was arrested in relation to the stabbing of her 62-year-old mother while the older woman slept, police said.

Laverne Olivene Gould, 32, was remanded in custody Wednesday after her charge of attempted murder was transmitted to Grand Court.

Gould is accused of attempting to murder her mother at the home they shared in West Bay.
