Friends and family scheme looks set to delight visitors

Cayman is truly a world-famous destination; the beaches, the stingrays, the water sports and diving, the restaurants, the unspoiled nature and the wonderful sun constantly draw people from far and wide.

And for some of us who are lucky enough to live here, there’s a chance to share that love with family and friends in a special scheme courtesy of the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism and the Cayman Islands Tourism Association.

The Visiting Friends and Family promotion provides locals and visitors alike with the opportunity to experience local product offerings through special rates and discounts between September and November, 2011.

The message is ‘treat yourself, treat your loved ones’; something we can all identify with.

It is an opportunity to step back and enjoy the islands as a resident while in the company of those who closest to you. Often, it is easy to forget that outside the office is a unique and beautiful destination waiting to be (re)discovered. The Visiting Friends and Family scheme is an ideal way to bring people to Cayman and take some time out for yourself, letting the azure skies warm your body and the seas tickle your feet as you lounge in the sand.

And of course there’s the historic sites, Bodden Town, the Sister Islands, Barkers, East End, wonderful restaurants, diving, snorkelling … the possibilities truly are only limited by imagination.

Discounts aplenty

A massive incentive for anyone wishing to come down is the 15 per cent discount on Cayman Airways for south-bound travel. All tickets must be purchased on or before November 16, 2011. All travel must be completed on or before November 18, 2011. Discount is applicable when flying from the Cayman Airways gateways of Tampa, Miami and New York. Fares are nonrefundable. Changes can be made for a US$100 fee plus applicable fare difference. Ticket has no value unless ticketed flights are cancelled prior to ticketed departure time. Advance purchase and all applicable fare restrictions will apply.

The booking period is between 15 August and 16 November for a travel period of 7 September to 18 November.

There are also a host of special offers from many of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac’s numerous attractions, restaurants, activities and the dive community – these are constantly being updated so check the website for more details.

Trina Christian, executive director of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, said the scheme is a great way to show off the island while helping stimulate economic growth.

“Everyone in Cayman is an ambassador for the island – inviting people down, posting videos of the vacation and just sharing the island with those you love goes a long way,” she said. “And there can be no more trusted source of information than your friends and family who live here.”

Fares do not include a September 11 Security Fee of US$2.50 per US enplanement, airport passenger facility charges of up to US$20.40 roundtrip and other government taxes and fees of up to US$80.45.

These fares are available exclusively at the Cayman Airways website and passengers must enter corporate ID DOI10 to receive this offer. The discount of 15 per cent is taken off applicable fare.
