Now, a friend of Karen’s – a 24-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle at the time it went off the road and struck a tree – has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The woman is due in court next week. Police filed the charges on Thursday.
No other cars were involved in the crash that occurred around 7pm on 14 August along Sea View Road just west of East End Village.
Ms Edwards’ body and that of another crash victim were found outside the Toyota which crashed into the tree.
A third woman was trapped inside and had to be rescued by firefighters. The fourth victim managed to get to the road and was taken to hospital in a private car.
The other three accident victims survived, although one had to be airlifted off island for treatment. The group of young women had spent most of the afternoon prior to the crash at a North Side beach.
