Wolverines ravage Maples newbies

Flag football has just started its summer season in Cayman and there is already plenty of intrigue.

Two teams are currently 3-0 atop the Grand Cayman Flag Football Association 2012 Dart Women’s League. At the Camana Bay Sports Field last Friday, the Burger King Wolverines smashed the Maples Bliss 30-0. Alexandra Terry was among the stars with three catches and a touchdown.

On Saturday, the Androgroup Killa-Panthers kept pace with a convincing 19-0 victory over the Subway Stingers.

Christina Hefner led the charge with three TD passes, two of which went to Cassandra Bodden.

The league now heads into week four as 2011 champs the Hammerheads Lady Sharks battle Subway at 8pm on Friday, 22 June. On Saturday, 23 June, Maples tackle the Hot 104.1 Cheetahs at 10am, just before the Wolverines face the Zulu Warriors and the Panthers tussle with the Lone Star Jager Monsters at 11am.

On the men’s side, West Bay’s Ed Bush Field saw an exciting start to the Cayman Islands Flag Football Association 2012 Digicel Summer League. After the dms Hellcats smashed the PWC Ironmen 34-6, the Burger King Panthers upset Luigi Moxam and the Club House Bulldogs 6-0 while the Cox Colts barely edged the Maples Packers 19-14.

Week two takes place this Saturday at Ed Bush as Club House battle PWC at 1.30pm, the Panthers face the Dart Hurricanes at 2.45pm and the Colts battle the Hellcats at 4pm.
