For love of dogs

There is no love quite as unconditional as that of a dog: man’s best friends don’t have bad moods, sulks or arguments. They’re just full of love – they love food, walks, naps, and people in equal measure.

If you love your dog back, or just love animals in general, or love running, why not Run for Love? It’s a an easy, one mile fundraising run organised by Cartier/Kirk Freeport and Race Caribbean and this year proceeds will benefit the Humane Society. The run takes place on Sunday, 17 February, starting at 4pm.

Participants can run alone, or with their dogs, and there will be separate start times for juniors, children and those running with canine companions.

The main event, the Valentine’s Mile, begins at 4pm, and runners with dogs and under 17s will be setting off at 4.30pm. Children younger than 10 will have a separate 5pm start.

Runners will start out from Harbour Jewellers and finish outside the Cartier store, on Cardinall Avenue, with plenty of water and cheerleaders stationed along the route.

All participants will receive a cap and the top three winners in each category will receive trophies.

Additionally, everyone who pays to enter the race will be entered into the Run for Love raffle.

Raffle prizes have been donated by Kirk Freeport and include items from Cartier, Fossil/Time Zone, Swatch, Cariloha, Del Sol and other Kirk Freeport stores.

The Book Loft will also take the opportunity to bring down some of their books, toys and DVDs for sale at the finish line.

Participants may pre-register at Cost U Less or Fosters at the Strand on Saturday, 16 February, or at 3pm on the day, at the start line.
Entry is $20 for adults, $5 for 10 to 17 year olds and free for dogs and children under 10.
