Misfit crew disconnects Digicel

The corporate division of co-ed softball saw its newest teams square off.

On Valentine’s Day, the Misfits would show Digicel tough love with a 24-4 thrashing in the D-League of the 2013 Winter Adult Co-ed Softball League. Under the guidance of the Cayman Islands Little League Association, the game was played at the Field of Dreams facility.

Digicel showed up in their Valentine’s red, but went home with their hearts broken. For many, it was the first time they have ever played. One player commented that it was the first time he ever held a bat.

Both teams grew accustomed to the rules of the league together, with some help from an experienced umpire and a good time was had by all – complete with lots of encouragement as well as some good-natured ribbing. Both teams are looking forward to continuing the season and meeting the other teams on the field.

Both squads were in action this week and swing into motion next week on field two at 8.15pm. On Tuesday, 26 February, the Misfits battle G-Force while Digicel faces the PwC Scorpions on Wednesday, 27 February.

PwC and G-Force are the two holdovers from last season, with the Scorpions having advanced to the championship series.

It should be noted that the D-League started after the other three, more competitive divisions began play in late January. The competition is in its fifth week and will last until early May.
