Last Northward escapee rounded up

The last of three inmates who escaped Her
Majesty’s Prison, Northward in August was arrested Friday afternoon in George
Town.

Marcus Manderson, 25, was thought last month to
have left the Cayman Islands.

A brief police statement on the matter said
Manderson was arrested Friday in the Eastern Avenue area. No further details
were provided.

Manderson was serving a 10-year-sentence for
possession of an unlicensed firearm when he escaped on Aug. 14 along with his
father, Steve Manderson, serving life for murder and Chadwick Dale, who was
beginning a six-year sentence for robbery.

Dale and the elder Manderson were recaptured
within a month of the escape. Both have been charged with escaping lawful
custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Malcolm Kay, the man
leading the investigation into the prison escape, said in mid-October there was
no evidence to suggest that the younger Manderson was still in the Cayman Islands.

Dale pleaded guilty to escaping lawful custody
and was sentenced to an additional year in prison. Steve Manderson failed to
appear in Summary Court to answer the escape charge last month.
