Stabbing case in court

Magistrate grants bail with conditions

Handel Dale Bodden appeared in Summary Court on Wednesday afternoon, accused of wounding a man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, a charge that can be dealt with only in Grand Court.

Magistrate Grace Donalds transmitted the matter to the higher court, where Bodden is scheduled to appear on Friday, January 24.

Bodden, 31, was arrested in connection with a stabbing that took place in a house in the East End area in the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 12.

Attorney John Furniss was successful in his application for bail, but the magistrate imposed conditions that included a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew, a specified place of residence and a requirement that Bodden report to police twice per week.

The complainant and the defendant live in the same district, so the magistrate ordered Bodden not to contact the complainant and not go within 100 yards of that person’s residence.
