Sharks hunger to feast on Flames

The Deloitte Sharks will look to keep feasting on their opposition. 

Deloitte, 6-4, has 12 points atop the adult spring 2014 inline hockey league at Kings Sports Center. The Sharks are next in action in round 11 of the competition against the Cayman Hot Sauce Flames at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Cayman Hot Sauce, 5-1-4, is second in the standings. 

It marks the second straight week the sides have squared off, with the Flames getting the better of the frontrunners 10-6 last time out. Chris Anton, Andrew Bowden, Evan Ellbogen, Gordon Mattison, Mike Bowden and Jason Windsor scored for the Flames. Dan Etherington and Dennis Paschier had the goals for Deloitte. 

Both sides top the offensive statistics, as Cayman Hot Sauce (89 goals) and Deloitte (74 goals) have scored the most goals. Ellbogen is the league’s top scorer with 41 goals, ahead of Etherington (17 goals) and Wayne Griffith of the Sharks (16 goals). Ellbogen also has a competition-best 16 assists, ahead of Paschier (14 assists), Mike Bowden (11 assists) and Andrew Bowden (10 assists). 

The other contest on Tuesday pits 3-7 Mepco High Rollers against 5-1-4 ITS Solar Bears at 9 p.m. Both sides faced off last week, with Solar Bears getting the win, 6-3. Brad De Schiffert, Rich Hastings, Pete Holowchuk and Fareed Hosein scored for the winners. Kevin Grzybouski and Jeff Danter scored for the Rollers. As a result, De Schiffert has 21 goals this season (second most) and Scott Somerville of the Rollers remains on 12 goals. Eric Mildenberger of the Solar Bears is tied for fourth in passing with 10 assists.
