New Year's Eve – raise your glasses for auld lang syne!

With New Year’s Eve around the corner, the countdown begins – where should you go and what should you do to ring in 2015? That’s always the question! With so many glittering celebrations to choose from, it can be a daunting decision, so Weekender has rounded up some of the NYE events for those who want to venture out for the celebration. Just don’t drop the ball: Plan in advance and make reservations early. 

The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman  

With three options to choose from, including two dinner celebrations, there is something to suit everyone.  

The Cayman Islands Ballroom will host a dinner buffet beginning at 7:30 p.m. that will include a raw bar, charcuterie, cheese selection, antipasto and a variety of main course and dessert options. Fireworks and a champagne toast will follow. The cost is $325 for adults, $75 for children ages 6-12, and $45 for children under age 6.  

Seafood lovers will delight in the New Year’s Eve Dinner at Blue by Eric Ripert. The cost is $325 for dinner with wine pairings, or $250 without pairings. Cost for children ages 6 to 12 is $95. Dinner is served from 6 p.m.  

The Ambassadors of the Environment is hosting a Kid’s New Year’s Eve party from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. that will follow NYE events from around the world, with a new celebration beginning every hour as the clock chimes midnight in different countries. Ideal for children ages 4-12, there will be games, recycled arts and crafts, movies, and face painting on hand. Cost is US$90. For event information and reservations, call 815-6117. 

Camana Bay   

Camana Bay hosts fireworks displays at 7 p.m. and midnight. A DJ will play family friendly tunes from 6 to 9 p.m., and a “No Resolutions” party in the town center’s Crescent takes place from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., featuring DJ Tony Chen. The event is perfect for all ages, so if you’re dining alfresco in one of the nearby waterfront restaurants, the open-air venue can be enjoyed from there too. There is no cover charge for the evening’s events. 

Royal Palms  

Royal Palms has an extensive lineup of DJs, including, DJ Lin, DJ RKM and Xixgon, who will entertain party-goers on the beach, under the stars; and DJ Glenroy and DJ Flex, who will have revelers grooving on their feet by the pool area. General Admission is CI$25 and VIP tickets are $75 which includes all-you-can-drink access. Party favors and a glass of bubbly at midnight are included with both prices. 

The VIP section will be on the beach in front of the stage, and will include six cabanas, while the general section will expand over the beach patio, pool area and onto the sand, amongst 11 cabanas. Specially priced bottle service will be available for both sections. 

For those who want dinner with the champagne specials on offer all night, a full a la carte menu is available for $48 per person. Guests may dine in a cabana until 10 p.m., by the pool or beach; and the beach patio and upstairs are also available for dining. The $25 entrance fee is complimentary for guests visiting for dinner. The Marriott   

Ring in the New Year with the Marriott Beach Resort’s “Fete Moet & Blanc.” Its theme for the night is all things beautiful, or as they say in France, “La Vie est Belle.” Enjoy a dinner buffet on the beach that includes a raw bar station, sushi station, tapas bar, salad bar, cheese station, paella and unlimited Moet Chandon. Tickets are $250 per person, inclusive of gratuities. Dinner starts at 8 p.m. 

There will also be paper lanterns released into the night sky, music with DJ XS spinning tunes, a midnight toast, and a fireworks show. Guests are encouraged to wear white.  

For parents attending the event, there will be a complimentary “Kids NYE Pajama Party” from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Ideal for ages 5-12, children will be entertained with snacks, games and a movie. Other children are welcome at $35 per child. Call 949-0088 to reserve your tickets. 

Tukka restaurant  

If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve off the beaten path, Tukka, located in East End, is offering a four-course meal for $50 plus gratuity per person. Enjoy your scrumptious meal in Australian hospitality as you overlook the beach and the famous Wreck of the Ten Sails. Whether you choose Grilled Mahi Mahi & Shrimp, Boneless Jerked Chicken, Mixed Grill Brochette or Filet Mignon as your main course, take in the spectacular views and ring in the New Year with friends and family. The dinner also includes party hats, streamers and fireworks at midnight. Dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. For reservations, call 947-2700. 

George Town Yacht Club  

If you’re looking for an upscale event to ring in the New Year, then “LUX” is the one for you. Organized by the Crescendo Group, the event takes place at the George Town Yacht Club in the Barcadere Marina. Admission is $135 and includes unlimited open bar and unlimited prosecco, as well as canapés at the beginning of the evening. There will be various DJs on hand all night as you dance the night away while overlooking the North Sound. Put on your best glittery outfits as the dress code is formal. For tickets, call 947-4892. 

Calico Jack’s  

Epic Day Entertainment hosts its “Barefoot Blacktie at Calico Jack’s” on New Year’s Eve. Featuring London’s DJ Evil Twin, as well as local DJs Jonesian, Beatdown and George Divine, party-goers can get their toes in the sand and dance under the stars. When the clock strikes 12, fireworks will light up the sky.  

The event is from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and are available at Calico Jack’s, Epic Day Entertainment offices at The Strand and all Jacques Scott locations, or book your tickets online at or call 938-2395. 

The Wharf   

Join Barefoot Man with Sean n’B, including Mark & Bugs, from 9:30 to 1:30 a.m. for the Wharf’s New Year’s Eve bash, which will also include its regular al la carte menu. Two seatings are available: the first at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at no cover charge; the second at 8:30 p.m., 9 p.m., 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. with a $15 cover charge per person, plus the cost of all food and beverages. It includes live music from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., party favors, and fireworks at midnight. There will also be specials on a variety of Champagnes throughout the night.
