Local radio stations Z99 and Rooster are holding their annual Easter Egg hunt at the Town Centre of Camana Bay this Saturday, 10am until 1pm.
This year’s grand prize draw is a family trip to Disney World, Orlando, including flights, two nights accommodation in a Disney Resort hotel and a three day pass to the parks.
Entry and registration for the Easter egg hunt and prize draw is free and can either be completed on arrival, or participants can sign up in advance at Every Bloomin’ Thing for a double entry into the grand prize draw if they bring their registration form along to Camana Bay.
Throughout Saturday morning, the Easter Bunny will hide coloured eggs in Jasmine Court, Gardenia Court and along The Paseo for kids under 12 to find and trade in for Hershey’s chocolate, sponsored by Progressive Distributors Ltd.
Hidden amongst the coloured eggs is a very special red and white striped egg, which will win one lucky mum an Italian gold bracelet, generously donated by Island Companies.
There are also prizes for kids to win in every age group provided by Little Darlings and Atlantic Kids.
Chasing after the Easter Bunny can be hungry work, so there will be a barbeque on The Paseo offering hotdogs, chips and drinks. Refreshments are complimentary, but a donation of $5 is encouraged as all proceeds will go to the DARE programme.
Darren the DARE lion will also be on hand to raise awareness for the Royal Cayman Islands Police programme for Drug Abuse Resistance Education in primary and middle schools across the island.
At Books & Books, the Story & Craft Hour this Saturday is dedicated to Horton Hears A Who, to tie in with the release of the movie. A reading from the Dr. Seuss classic will take place on The Paseo at 10.30am, while throughout the morning artists Wray Banker and John Doak will make chalk drawings of Horton, Cat in the Hat and other Seuss characters on the pavement of The Paseo. Budding young artists are invited to colour in the artists’ designs or they can create their very own Easter chalk pictures.
As part of the festivities, Hollywood Theaters will have a special early showing of Horton Hears A Who! At 1.15pm this Saturday so that egg hunters and chalk artists can go straight from the Easter Egg hunt to the movie theatre at Camana Bay.
Jim Carrey is the voice of Horton the Elephant who struggles to protect a microscopic community from his neighbours in this charming animated movie that will delight youngsters and adults alike.
With activities and prizes throughout the morning, this year’s Z99/Rooster Easter Egg hunt promises to be the biggest and best yet.
