Student exhibition opens at National Gallery

The students of Montessori By The Sea have put together a nature-inspired collection of artwork, titled The Artful Heart, that is currently being exhibited in the National Gallery’s Community Gallery.

From 7 to 21 June, 2013, artwork by students ages 21 months to 14 years is on display in the Dart Auditorium of the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, also known as the NGCI Community Gallery. It is a joyful, colourful display that celebrates the beauty of nature in art.

Sponsored by MBTS’ Parents’ Guild, the exhibition was launched on 7 June at a grand opening celebration. The well attended event featured a live auction of group masterpieces by each classroom, a raffle, canapes and fine wines provided by Mise en Place and the West Indies Wine Company.

Given the school community’s commitment to environmental stewardship and leadership ‘Beauty in Nature’ seemed a fitting theme for MBTS’ first student exhibition.

This academic year was a landmark one for MBTS, in that it received the inaugural Governor’s Conservation Award for its environmental efforts, which include school-wide composting and a pioneering recycling program.

2013 also brings The Artful Heart, the first exhibit of its kind in MBTS history, and the entire school community is thrilled to be working with the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.
